Description

Along the 12-kilometer corridor, each station’s wall features a series of mirror-polished stainless steel prism reflectors. These reflectors insert a fixed datum line within three intersecting experiences of light. Firstly, they reflect the dynamic daily and seasonal changes of the atmosphere, secondly, registering the mechanical time of trains and cars and thirdly, the biological time of people moving through space. The artwork is designed to reward repeated engagement over multiple visits.

The Time/Light Terminus acts as a monumental place of arrival and dispersal, connecting the commuter rail system to the surrounding landscape and river environment; over multiple visits the Time/Light Corridor and Terminus Light Field offers a deeper realization of memory and motion across the temporal experience of life in the City of Ottawa.
